Rolf,

I am looking into recording a demo of how I use GIMP to create a rotating ambigram image for use as a forum signature.  My only worry is recording audio - I rarely have time or privacy to record audio. I might have to use overlay text and let you pick some music to play in the background...

In any case, do you think this would be an interesting topic?  Is there any information i need to know about submitting video to you (format, resolution, etc.)?

Definitely a good topic.

If you can't do sound I can make a "voice over", I play the video and try to understand what I see. A little introduction can be helpful. ;-)

Recording: As you don't want to have sound you can do it with recordmydesktop in 800x600, 15fps. (Assuming you use Linux) Any other recording software will do too. Do it slowly because I have to talk over it. I can cut too long stuff in a second, but pasting i some seconds is not that fast.

Video format ogg or mov, in high quality. I compress in the last step and editing degrades the video.

Now I am waiting..... ;-)

I use Windows, and the nifty (open source) CamStudio.  It can output as AVI using a variety of codecs, and I will see if I can output to Ogg.

AVI with MP4 or H something is fine - just not M$ special formats.

ffmpeg eats nearly everything.... ;-)

I would like to go on record, and make it official: I LOVE the path tool.  In fact if I wasn't so enamoured with GIMP, Inkscape would be turning my head.

By the way, would you like me to send you some text explaining a few of the tricks with the Path tool I use?  I use a couple in that video (like getting an even semi-circle) but don't explain how or why I do it...

Emailed my scanned image with notes.  I sent an xcf, and if you toggle layer visibility, you get a presentation effect.
